Massachusetts Central Railroad, Palmer to Barre

Car Limit: 30
Excursion fee: $110
EC: Gordy Wallick & the NEREX Team

NEREX is pleased to announce a one day excursion on the Mass Central Railroad on Saturday, June 19, 2021 from Palmer to Barre, MA & return.
The last time a NARCOA excursion was held on the Mass Central Railroad was 2012.
Seton will begin at 7:00 AM at the Gibbs Crossing transload facility, located on the left at approximately 402 Palmer Road in Ware, MA.
Safety meeting will be at 8:30 AM with departure at 9:00 AM. Lunch will be at the North end of the line in Barre, MA. There is a small convenience store at the lunch stop but it is strongly suggested that you bring whatever food you want for the day.
Mass Central does not operate on weekends, so this 52 mile round trip should be a nice leisurely day with setoff mid-afternoon. For those interested, The Steaming Tender restaurant in Palmer is a great place for dinner Saturday afternoon/evening. I'm sure there will be many familiar faces there after the excursion.
There will be a 30 car limit for this excursion. Hyrail trucks allowed with prior approval from the EC.

Excursion fee: $470.00
EC: Tom Sopchak

The NEREX team is pleased to announce our 4th excursion on the Vermont Rail System for Saturday, October 16 and Sunday, October 17, 2021. On Saturday we will travel approximately 105 route miles from White River Junction, VT to Newport, VT along the Connecticut River. There are numerous twists and turns along the river with many bridge crossings. If you have been on this excursion in the past, please be aware that due to a sale of the yard in Newport we can no longer travel through that yard. We will be stopping on the main line just south of the Newport yard. You should plan on not returning to your motorcar after you leave it for the night. You should take everything with you when you leave your motorcar and not plan on returning to it. Bus transportation will be provided.
We will spend Saturday night in Newport. Your registration includes one hotel room per car at the Newport City Inn & Suites. Extra rooms are available upon request for an additional fee. As part of this weekend package, NEREX is also including ground transportation in Newport, dinner Saturday night at the beautiful East Side Restaurant (directly on Lake Memphremagog), breakfast again at the East Side on Sunday morning and overnight security for your car at the Newport tie down. You will have your choice of 3 entrees for dinner Saturday evening, beef, chicken or salmon. Breakfast Sunday will be buffet. NEREX will also include Sunday lunch. Following breakfast Sunday we will head back to White River Junction from Newport traveling back the same 105 route miles.
We are offering an early seton Friday, October 15th from 4pm - 7pm. Please take advantage of this if you can. Overnight security will be provided for cars that set on early. As with all NEREX excursions, this is a single excursion and no individual day discounts will be offered. Hy-Rails, gang cars and children under the age of 10 with prior approval by Tom Sopchak only. All cars should be capable of maintaining 30mph safely and comfortably.
For your convenience, attached you will find a copy of the registration for this October 2021 NEREX Vermont Rail Excursion. We will do everything possible to try and accommodate all people wishing to attend. We expect most people to have a vaccine by this time and CV to be under control. Finger crossed.
Please postdate your checks to September 2021. Please be aware that based on state, federal and NARCOA requirements this excursion could be canceled. In the event it is cancelled NEREX will not cash any checks or will issue a full refund for the excursion. As is NEREX policy, we only accept applications via US Postal Service, first come, first served. Come ride with NEREX and have a Safe & Fabulous time on the Vermont Rail System .
